How is the distance calculated?

This tool calculates the distance between two points on earth based on the "haversine formula". As the earth is no real sphere, you have to modify this formula a bit. This results in very accurate distances (more accurate than Google Maps or Earth). Google Maps is therefore only used for visual presentation. The flight distance differs in the flight height from the actual ground distance.

How is the flight time calculated?

The calculated flight time is obviously an estimate, because it is not possible to know all circumstances (weather or wind) and the real flight route. But we try to get as close as possible to the real conditions. Generally we differ between short-distance and long-distance flights.
